WWE Going Non-PG?! WWE Buying TNA?! | WrestleTalk News Sept. 2017

Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News
– I’m Oli Davis.
Dolph Ziggler’s Next Feud
Dolph Ziggler’s gimmick on Smackdown as
of late has been parodying famous wrestling
entrances – like Ultimate Warrior, Shane McMahon
and even Bayley – and pointing out wrestling
isn’t about elaborate walks down to the
ring; it’s about…well, wrestling.
On this week’s episode, Dolph mocked Shawn
Michaels’ act, prompting a fan to ask…
“Im sorry but @HEELZiggler spoofing hbk
entrance on sd..wasnt that your whole gimmick
for some time? 😂” [TWEET IMAGE]
“No. When Im in shorts I’m copying Billy
Gunn, but I do the exact same thing in pants,
I’m a complete ripoff off Shawn. Got it?”
Cage Side Seats are the latest to report Ziggler’s
storyline will eventually become a feud with
Bobby Roode, with the former NXT Champion
being kept off television until that program
starts around Hell in a Cell time. And going
by the advertised card for WWE’s Starrcade
show, Ziggler’s feud after that has also
been revealed – facing off against Booby Roode.
And Booby Roode might not be WWE’s only
non-PG move.
WWE Poll Fans On Attitude Era Programming,
TNA & More
WWE have sent out a survey to current, past
and potential subscribers to their Network
to gauge interest in options for a new premium
tier. Currently, the WWE Network costs a flat
rate of $9.99 a month for everyone – country
permitting – but the company have been exploring
higher price options since the start of this
year, and answers to the survey’s questions
“will be used to help improve our fans’
WWE Network experience and to continue vetting
a potential premium tier.”
The survey asks fans to rate how interested
they would be in “some potential new programming
ideas” for this premium version of the Network
– which includes:
-Tournaments, like King of the Ring, or the
mouthwatering idea of WWE vs. NXT
-Original scripted comedies like Southpaw
Regional Wrestling or WWE’s version of The
-And an extra audio channel that could act
as a Director’s Commentary for shows
Put me down for ‘Very Interested’ in all
of those. Because I’m saving ‘Extreme-ly
interested’ for these next ones.
-The return of non-PG programming to WWE with
a “new” weekly version of ECW or another
“edgy” new promotion rated TV-14
-Historic and new programming from TNA / Impact
Wrestling / Global Forc-even WWE don’t know
what it’s called
-And content from other promotions like PROGRESS,
ICW, New Japan and Ring of Honor.
Deals with independent British promotions
PROGRESS and ICW have reportedly been in the
works since March this year, but Vince McMahon
keeps changing his mind over whether he wants
non-WWE programming on the Network. New Japan
seems like a non-starter, but there were reports
of WWE being in talks with Ring of Honor in
April. Those negotiations, however, “are
considered dead” according to the Wrestling
The option for more adult-orientated wrestling
content has been speculated on since the Network
was first launched. With the TV-14 rated show
behind a paywall, WWE wouldn’t struggle
so much with offending sponsors in the mainstream,
and, after all, the Attitude Era and ECW are
available to watch in their entirety to anyone
with a Network subscription already.
The TNA question is arguably the most intriguing,
especially two weeks after Sports Illustrated
reported the promotion is “hemorrhaging
funds”, with its parent company Anthem Sports
and Entertainment looking to get out of the
wrestling business – although that has since
been denied by Anthem Vice President Ed Norholm.
The wording of having both “historic and
new programming” for TNA suggests WWE are
at least considering buying the promotion
and running it as their own show.
The survey’s press release does caution
that its questions are for research purposes
only, and thus not an indication WWE are currently
acting on these ideas. But that didn’t stop
former TNA wrestler Matt Hardy to find the
whole concept DELIGHTFUL:
Looks like #TheFinalDeletion, #DELETEorDECAY
& #TotalNonstopDELETION will be on the @WWENetwork
before ya know it. WONDERFUL!
Did Kevin Owens just cut his best WWE promo
yet?! And Jinder Mahal’s new gimmick is

100 thoughts on “WWE Going Non-PG?! WWE Buying TNA?! | WrestleTalk News Sept. 2017”

  1. i would love to see TV-14 WWE Again but this time i don't want the women getting abused like they did back in the day, this women's division is probably the best since trish and lita, they are taking women seriously now and if wwe does go back to TV-14 i don't want the women's division being a joke again, i want the women's division better than it is now like having them bleed and have more extreme matches. honestly if wwe goes back to tv-14 it will most likely go back to the ruthless aggression type of style which i'm fine with

  2. 2:47 of course when he means return of ECW what you think it going to be like paul hayman ECW lol nope instead it is really going to be like pg ECW i wounder if their going to be return of the zombie

    Stop with the cringy songs

  4. Pg-13 rumors has been happening for years now and still hasn't happened.
Not surprising lol idk why people still hope for it.

  5. Same rumors been going on for 10 DAMN YEAES!!! ATTITUDE ERA IS NEVER COMIMG BACK. And tna will always find a way to stay alive

  6. If they were to have an attitude era again i feel like Vince would have you pay extra for the violent stuff. He should keep new upcoming talent in the pg era. And kick nxt up a notch when it comes to talent because its kinda booty right now. Also shorten Wwe tv. Stop trying to suck everybody dry just for three hours of crappy t.v with one maybe two matches that are worth even seeing. Keep bringing back more old faces that we love. Put money on the table. Lets get this attitude era part two on the road!#attitudeera2

  7. I would love something like the attitude era to come back, but it's time to move on and let that era stay in stone as a legacy to remember and not to be ruined or messed with. Plus there is always something else better to come up with than to re-use the same things.

  8. WWE really needs to go back to TV-14, i don't care if they bring back AE or RA or something edgy, just get rid of the damn PG product

  9. WWE will never bring back the Attitude era. It happened and is part of history. They should be more concerned with building this modern era. I see no reason why elements of the Attitude era can not return, the more recent shoot style promo's are a step in that direction.
They would do good to make extreme match types like Cell matches reserved for extreme feuds only and a bit of blood here and there is not causing any harm in making a feud seem more intense. That would mean a ppv restructuring which is badly needed. Cut the watered down gimmick pay per views as they exist just for the sake of having such matches, when such match types should be there to fuel the fire.
There is no need to bring back ECW either, ECW was a entity that was far from corporate and it served its purpose, let it lay in the nostalgia ranks as hardcore wrestling as a thing is not real wrestling anyway, it would get stale very quickly. One of WWE's biggest flops ever was their version of ECW which resembled a episode of WWE Superstars weekly. Nostalgia is good to visit in wrestling but ultimately you can not live on it because you risk ruining what was once so fondly remembered.
WWE has a amazing talent roster overall, all the tools are there for a fantastic product, they just need to stop being so restrictive with characters by scripting every little word. Characters shine through when bringing their own flavour.
I want a Oli Davis for Xmas, he is adorable.

  10. Nice content available on your youtube channel to watch…! I'm a wwe fan!
But ur voice hurt my ears馃槕 who else feel the same way?

  11. wwe should just differentiate smackdown and raw: keep smackdown pg and turn raw back into the pg-13, attitude era style show that the hardcore audience wants. let the kiddies and john cena have their show and the old school fans can watch the other.

  12. they'll most likely bring back tv-14 but make it available only to wwe network subscribers. the regular cable subscribers will be stuck with pg

  13. ECW and the whole Monday Night Wars period of time did so much long term damage to the business from the non-stop hot shot booking and taking things too far. It numbed and immuned the core fans to normal tried and true wrestling angles and we're still feeling the damage from it. Being the hottest era of the business profit-wise is undeniable but it was a short term explosion in popularity followed by the bubble bursting when Vince was the last one standing and the company has been in steady decline ever since despite such developments as their expansions into new countries and the WWE Network.

Right now, they have a good track record for new original in-ring programming on the Network, so if they attempt a TV-14 show for it, it has to be something new and it doesn't have to push the envelope every single episode to try to top some imaginary competitor or shock the plebs in the audience. We don't need a retread of the Attitude Era or another ECW bastardization… it's been done, you can't reproduce it, it was only relevant in the time it happened, the industry and the world has moved on.

  14. I miss the edginess and unpredictably of matches, where the heels were not the same cowards like today, where both the heel and face had a chance of clean wins. Hell n a cell, cage and chamber matches need blood and violence

  15. The main reason why the Attitude Era should come back is because back then WWE told better stories. Characters had more of a motivation for why they did things, and they formed cohesive groups to achieve their objectives (D.O.A., Los Boricuas, Nation of Domination, the Ministry of Darkness, the Oddities). That's also partly the reason why TNA was able to compete with WWE for a few years during the early 2010s (Immortal, Fortune, Aces & Eights). In WWE, meanwhile, there have been very few effective factions over the past 15 years: Evolution, the Nexus, the Authority. The Shield never seemed like a good faction to me, and the Wyatt Family had potential and perhaps still does, but they haven't done anything worthwhile with Bray Wyatt yet. And while I really liked the Cabinet of 2004-2005, I don't consider it a truly effective faction because it was united around a single person rather than an ideology or some future goal. Nowadays the heels have little motivation for their actions, being either 1) pure psychopaths or 2) blustering, insecure types desperate to make people respect them. I can't wait for Triple H and Samoa Joe to come back.

  16. Raw is war used be electrifying back in the day.
They need to bring back RAW is War themed arena, and make writers write more edgy stuff.

  17. The best thing to do is buy tna put money behind they and have Monday night wars but unfortunately this would only work using kayfabe

  18. They might as well go back to the Attitude area kids today have dirty minds anyway they should鈥檝e been did this maybe they鈥檙e ratings would go up

  19. dolph ziggler can't decide which DX member he is. He's used trunks, used tights, has the fanouser, he has the superkick, he's had curly or wavy blond hair, he has blond-ish hair.
